I’m a surfer/greeny/realist guy. I think it’s wrong if Australia doesn’t look towards an opportunity like this. If we want to be green and there a source of energy so close to our major energy usage location. It makes sense that it’s an excellent option environmentally to have the source so close.

Also offshore gas is a totally different fish to offshore oil in regards to environmental risk even though people seem to be talking about them both in the same breath.

Anyway I do have some investment in this so might be slightly biased.
