In any event, February 12th isn't a genuine deadline, it's one created by investors' desires and other stakeholders (supporting and against).

Under the legislation, there is no firm obligation to make a decision, just best endeavor clauses.

But considering the noise this is creating, I would think the pollies would like to get it over and done with.

It's worth considering that the noise will disappear very quickly post-approval and the concerned souls will focus their outrage on the next major "crisis". Likely move their focus on the increase in Council rates in the area or the sand dredging that JB is supporting. Sometimes, people just want to be heard.
