Your emphasis on the pivotal role of natural gas in our nation power system and its significance as a transitional fuel towards achieving a net-zero future for our country has been commendable. In particular, you highlights:
1) Gas resources are crucial for ensuring energy security, stability, and reliability both domestically and internationally.
2) Gas serves as a transitional fuel in transforming our energy system into a renewable powerhouse.
3) Gas provides the flexibility needed to integrate more renewables into the grid.
4) Gas is absolutely essential to energy intensive projects like extracting and processing critical minerals and rare earth elements.
5) Gas supply declines faster than demand.
6) Gas shortage in NSW.

As you are aware, Asset Energy's applications relating to PEP-11 have undergone an extensive assessment by the National Offshore Petroleum Titles Administrator (NOPTA) and are currently under review by yourself and the NSW Minister for Natural Resources, Courtney Houssos. Your commitment to following proper procedures, underscored by your statement, "The current government has one resource minister. Just one. Ours is a government that respects proper process and the courts, and won't make the same mistakes Scott Morrison did," is duly noted.

Today marks the 60-day milestone since NOPTA submitted the technical assessment report to your office. Given this timeline, We are hopeful that a decision can be reached imminently. We are optimistic about an impending resolution.
