That is very interesting to know of this chital162.

Interesting, as I recalled from one of the sections I read of the new Bill (Environmental Planning and AssessmentAmendment (Sea Bed Mining andExploration) Bill 2024) introduced by NSW parliament last week which stated the following: -

    (2) Despite subsection (1), the exploration for, or recovery of, a mineral does notinclude the exploration for, or the recovery of, the mineral from the sea bedthat is carried out by means of underground mining from land in the State ifthe exploration, or recovery, is carried out in accordance with the Mining Act1992.

Based on the technology you mentioned, recovery could (potentially) be undertaken underground under the sea bed in accordance with the Mining Act.

Does this mean we now have two possible avenues to recover gas from PEP-11 even if this NSW Bill was passed? Either underground as above, or by applying to the NSW government to legislate to allow an exemption as per the exemption clauses in the Bill which I found previously.
