That is of course if both parties can come to a solution.
But resolved at mediation there is no finding of potential guilt, facts are swept under the carpet and precedent not set for other cases to use as case law.
There is also no accountability to correct one's ways at all in mediation settling as it is confidential without ramifications like an open court verdict.
The only benefit is it does not tie up the court and is cheaper.
