Anyone that has a cursory understanding of human history would know that there will has never been, and never will be, an in demand resource on Earth that has not been extracted, and will not be extracted. Rest assured, someone or some company will be extracting the gas from the PEP 11 licence, it's just a question of whether it'll be BPH/Advent or some other company.

I believe we will live in a future, and distant future, where renewables will exist and every ounce of hydrocarbon will be extracted and used. Not to get too deep into sci-fi territory, but becoming an interplanetary species will be an inevitability for our species so long as we haven't killed each other in the near future. So all this bickering over renewables vs hydrocarbons is rather moot - we'll be utilising both because we'll need both. Do not underestimate human ingenuity - we always solve our biggest problems and prevail in the end.
