My thoughts exactly.
The closer we get to election the less likely approval. I believe it's already far too late for this cycle.
The majority of Australia will be completely ambivalent, even unaware. But for a small amount of seats it will be a negative on the ALP vote.
Any downward pressure on utility prices won't be felt in the medium term. There is no short term positives for a left leaning government, only downside.
Approval before the election would be a gift to Greens/Teals. They would have endless ammunition against the government and Albanese in particular.
In short - Short term politics will always trump long term decision making.
“a Labor Government that I lead will rule out PEP11,”- Albanese
“PEP11 doesn’t make sense from an economic, environmental, or energy perspective,” -Albanese
“should be consigned to the dustbin of history, where it belongs. This is a complete no-brainer.” - Albanese
* sentiment. Held a large holding long ago, have a small amount left. Hoping to sell if there is another pump. If not, ride it into the ground as cgt loss.
