Hi Squid ,I think I can understand why you are confused…What I believe they are saying is that because it uses far less energy to use Pyrolysis to produce hydrogen compared to SMR (competitor) it is going to be cheaper…IN ADD ITION ,
the production of the by-product, Carbon black is a way to reduce the overall cost of the production of Hydrogen. So , you have three advantages…
Low energy and therefore low cost production
A by-product that can be sold and further reduce costs….
No CO2 production and therefore no greenhouse gases….WIN,WIN,WIN!!!
