Its all well and good to be negative nancies in opposition. Governing is different.
If they chose they could adopt the 'educated' ' informed' position and explain why not only is gas good but they could burn ALL opponents by exposing their fraudelent positions. They could reduce all others to lame ducks by being the knight on the shiny horse ...doing the brave and just thing for ALL Australians.... show they can do it when all others just talk !! I despise Labor but they could build a lot of street cred and garner electoral confidence by actually going on the front foot and own it. If they OWN the solution then by default others cant. Political masterstroke.
