Victorians’ gas bills set to rise from August 1The cost of living crisis is set to get worse for many Victorians with new bill pain from next month.Jade Gailberger July 14, 2024 - 7:56PMThe Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has predicted gas shortfalls on the east coast could happen sooner than expected. The competition watchdog is calling for "urgent" development of new sources of supply after revising its shortfall predictions from 2028 to 2027. It suggests the use of LNG import terminals as a stop-gap measure. AEMO issued a threat notice last month warning the supply in the east cost system "may be inadequate to meet demand".Victorian families and businesses will have to fork out hundreds of dollars more for their gas bills following rate hikes next month.
