This is a horrible take.
There is only opinion on it's lawfulness or otherwise, it is yet to be tested in court. In fact, there are now two elements that need to be tested in court, the GG appointment itself, and also the extent of the powers conferred by the appointment. The second element looks particularly weak.
As to "moving on", care to explain the benefits to shareholders if the Directors were to just "move on"?
