“The result is messy and hardly transparent but smaller or newer producers will be effectively exempt with the real target the three big LNG projects in Queensland. Canberra wants to harden up the requirement to provide plenty of domestic gas supply using the $12 a gigajoule price “cap” as a price “anchor” as well as conducting their major business of exporting LNG.”
