Nex Metals Formalises Purchase of Area 81 Copper Tenement in Laos
Further to the announcement of the 31st July 2008 Nex Metals Explorations Ltd (“Nex Metals”) is pleased to
provide some additional information in relation to the recent acquisition of the Area 81 tenement area located
approximately 40 kilometres southwest of Pan Aust Ltd Phubia Mining Project. See Figure 1.
Nex Metals Chairman, Tom Percy QC, signed off on the agreement with board approval on Friday 16th
    August.
Mr Percy believes the tenement is “the first step in a very exciting regional project. At Area 81, previous
investigation plans display the likelihood of more than 1 km of strike with evidence of high grade copper
    oxide laying on the surface.”
The project is still subject to due diligence drilling, to confirm that the copper mineralization continues to a
    meaningful depth.
Area 81 is a keystone purchase to a broader regional multi commodity play. The Managing Director, Ken
Allen and the Technical Director, Edd Prumm will be pursuing tenements to this end, in the next month.
    Geology
The tenement area lies on Loeui-Luangprabang Foldbelt, and broadly located at the northern plunging area
of Century Anticline, that comprises limestone basement and subcontinental volcanics cover. Dioritic
intrusive rocks have been observed at the NW side of the tenement.
North East trending deep crustal arc parallel structures pass through the nearby Muang Fuang valley and the
Area 81 tenement. These are interpreted to control the location of the Phukham Cu-Au deposit of Pan Aust
Ltd, and are the obvious targets, and exert a mineralizing control, to the mapped copper occurrences within
    Area 81.
    Previous Work and Results
Past work by a previous exploration company consisted of systematic stream sediment sampling which
outlined a strongly anomalous copper zone in the southern sector of Area 81. See Figure 3.
Follow up soil geochemistry has outlined a number of discrete copper anomalies which were subsequently
tested with shallow trenches. Results returned include 12m @ 1.9% Cu, including 2m@ 6.7% Cu and
10m @ 1.5% Cu, including 4m @ 3.2% Cu. Silver grades of up to 65 g/t Ag were returned associated with
the anomalous copper grades. See Figure 2.
Two kilometres to the northwest of these results additional rock chip sampling has returned 2.88% and 2.7%
Zn highlighting the multi-commodity potential of the area.
Controls on the known mineralization is thought to be related to dilationary splays from the main north
eastern trending deep seated fault structures and precipitation of the metalliferous fluids adjacent to the
    limestone rocks.
    Future Plans
The company plans to complete detailed mapping to trace out the mineralized copper outcrop and to prepare
access for a drill rig. Approximately 10 holes are planned to test the anomalous fault structures to
approximately 50 metres vertical depth and to determine the grade and size of the mineralized zone.
Additional mapping to the north eastern and north western will test for extensions to the already identified
    anomalous zone.
