Rightio - Things has clearly worse then I thought.

Now we are going to burn Diesel (Extra Low Sulphur Diesel) for a stop gap....

I can honestly say from my days of operating fuel pipelines from Sydney to Newcastle we don't have the capacity to fill the void.

What makes it more idiotic is that fuel will have to either be shipped into Sydney or Newcastle and then trucked to the diesel peakers on the central coast.

Rough numbers here but lets say Gas is $12Gj which is the east coast cap... Diesel or XLSD will be a equivalent of about $30 Gj...

Absolute Madness....

Also they won't get the throughput of deisel without stealing feedstock from coal mines. That means dump truck will park up.

Its literally at capacity now...

Newcastle has few days of bad weather and 2 out 4 fuel terminals will run out of diesel.
