The major problem with the report is the good work of the author was wasted on the audience. The NSW LNP made the decision in 2015 to block PEP11 and this stance was re-iterated in 2017 and again in 2021 when JB declined to support the Jan 2020 NOPTA application. The NSW LNP are never going to assist PEP11. Fortunately for Advent, PEP11 is Commonwealth waters so (a) NSW will be limited in their influence, and (b) the decision to grant the application rests solely with Keith Pitt.

Regarding environmental issues, NOPSEMA did not exist in 2010, it will enforce everything necessary prior to approving any drill.

Regarding community concerns, they existed in 2010, they exist today, every current Federal MP from Robertson to Cook is nominally against PEP11.

Again, fortunately for Advent, Keith Pitt has cited the world class reputation of NOPSEMA, and has cited the real life examples of Bass Strait, Otways Basin, and Gorgon/Barrow Island as to how offshore gas exploration is both normal and safe in Australia, and stated publicly that he will make his decision based on the recommendation from NOPTA and the legislation in the interests of ALL Australians.
