There's almost always an element of luck involved in discoveries. Frazer is indeed being modest, and it's opportunistic to try to put him in a bad light.
It's a far more complex situation just in development of vaccines than is covered by one dismissive post. Valves are an entirely different proposition.
There are so many mixed metaphors in your post, and metaphors without substance I don't know where to start.
Suffice to say, no hard analysis there about why AHZ is not going to work out with the most lucrative asset.
A lot of fear, a lot of what ifs, and just one line of acknowledgement that the science is solid to cover the rest. 'Not flopped' is the least objective way of expressing it.
