Think you may have missed my point about democracy. It relates to the electorate and not to the workplace. Electorally the people IMO have spoken in relation to Work Choices. The most successful businesses will involve staff in the development of their business plan and usually get broad support for the plan chosen to be implemented. The degree to which this will occur can vary according to the size and type of business involved. IR laws are not about how a business persay should be run but rather provide the regulatory framework to ensure that the work place is safe, harrassment and exploitation free and where disputes arise on these issues, can be dealt with in a fair way. There is no doubt the employer will normally have the upper hand and provided they dont fall foul in respect to the issues in the preceding sentence that is how it should be.
