    That is the problem.

    Too many employees have let greed stuff it up for the majority.
    I still maintain the concept is good but needs policing to stop the rogues like your previous employer.
    The idea is not wrong, it is its implementation.
    Typical of capitalism, the pendulum swung too far and now there is likely to be an over correction.
    Some would say that the last 4 or 5 years under Howard was an over correction to the draconian union power days.

    Like the unfair dismissal laws being debated currently.

    Has me beat to understand why someone who works for an organization that employs 15 people doesn't deserve the same protection as someone who works for an organization that employees 20.
    Should be the same protection whether 2 or 2000.

    Get the rules fair and apply them to everyone.
    Seems like discrimination to me.
