I do wish people would stop suggesting the unemployed are going to be six months with no support.
They have the choice of finding a job or, if they genuinely can't, then being engaged in some form of study or training.
As long as one of these criteria are fulfilled they will receive taxpayer financial support, not be cast out into the gutter as so frequently emotively suggested.
I do, however, think to have to apply for 40 jobs per month in some regional depressed areas is a bit unrealistic.
We get the dramatic sounding headlines. One would hope that there will be some facility for modification to this target depending on local circumstances.
Whatever, it's a damn sight better than allowing multi generational welfare to flourish with people just sitting around doing nothing. I don't care what sort of work is involved in work for the dole. It will all help to get people to understand the need for a structured day, some self discipline, and above all, an understanding that you do not have a right to expect your fellow Australian to support you while you fail to take responsibility for yourself.
