I agree its better for mothers to look after their kids rather than Eddy Groves.
Most mothers also know that and believe it so strongly that they take UNpaid maternity leave. Without this paid maternity leave I find it hard to believe huge numbers of mothers are suddenly going to leave their 1 month olds down at the local ABC.
Second, when the newspoll was conducted they simply asked if they thought mothers should get 6 months paid maternity leave, and wow 78% agreed. If they phrased the question.. "Would you be willing to pay another $300 a year every year so the country can have paid maternity leave" . If phrased this way, Im sure the newspoll would have had a different outcome.
