Wakeup, Why does Australia need the extra population?
We can keep a stable population and just not have immigrant workers. Wages would rise and certain labour intensive industries would be curtailed to the point the economy is in balance.
Its the immigration fuelling housing demand and inflation. And it is a disincentive for technology implementation to raise productivity. Thats why Australias productivity is not rising. We are just solving problems by importing and chucking cheap low productive labour at it.
