I was just reading about the working conditions behind Indonesia's rise to global Nickel dominance and sadly it reads like a page out of the dirty history of early western industrialization practices of the 19th century that have long been reformed (but still require ongoing scrutiny and maintenance) in the west but are still the norm in the east and underdeveloped / developing nations.
Despite western reforms leading the way in the field of industrial relations, workplace safety and the emerging "global" trend for more sustainable mining practices it appears to be business as usual for the mega corporations and aspiring colonial power of China's Global Belt and Road Initiative when operating in less developed nations. Generally speaking, the world turns a blind eye or is blind to where its resources come from to provide the luxuries of modern life although this does seem to be changing slowly due to the rise in interest of critical metal supply chains.
WMG is in a great position to carve a place as a potential Tier1 resource that could supply quality nickel sulphide with "green" credentials in bulk from a stable jurisdiction and challenge the horrifying tales of resource exploitation in under regulated environments. I know there is still a lot more to do here but am confident that the WMG Team has what it takes to make Mulga Tank a success.
