That is no longer the case in most places. Do the same job with the same level of productivity/experience and you should get the same pay rate per hour regardless of race/colour or sex
The gender pay gap argument often gets warped by comparing apples with oranges. A childcare worker which is a very important job is dominated by women but hardly can be compared pay wise to something like an engineer where allot of women now work but is still dominated by men.
