I think it is part of the MO of the virus that it replicates continuously until it has overwhelmed the cells integrity and the cell membrane ruptures (explodes), releasing the new virus particles into the intercellular medium. That is where the RCE compound can be effective. I doubt if it can do any more than that but that is in itself very helpful in reducing the viral load.
