As is indicated by your collection of urls much of solar thermal development has been experimental. The Raygen plant that I linked in the op is the latest iteration and has much more evidenced tech involved. The industry has learned masses over the last 40 years.
thanks for the info re Jemmalong. but there's no need to generalise from one example of the tech. I would read the website in a more credible light but I haven't looked for or found more evidence to convince me either way as yet.
Certainly the Vic Govt and AGL are both seeming convinced that the Raygen tech will produce profitable and viable electricity production.
