10 key imports for Hyundai A-League 2017/18 Season

Johan Absalonsen (Adelaide): The 31-year-old winger has spent his entire career in Denmark, clocking up 378 appearances with Brøndby IF, Odense Boldklub, SønderjyskE, and FC Copenhagen, scoring 59 goals.

Massimo Maccarone (Brisbane): After a storied club career in Europe that saw him play over 500 matches and score almost 200 career goals, the former Italian international has arrived at Roar from Serie A side Empoli to bolster the Brisbane strike-force.

Wout Brama (CCM): With over 300 games of experience in the Netherlands with FC Twente, PEC Zwolle and FC Utrecht, the Dutchman will bring experience and strength to the Central Coast midfield.

Bart Schenkeveld (Melbourne City): The one-time Dutch underage international comes to Melbourne from PEC Zwolle, the club now managed by former City mentor John van’t Schip who helped convince the defensive utility to make the move to the Hyundai A-League.

Matias Sanchez (Melbourne Victory): The former Argentinean under-20 international won the 2009 Copa Libertadores with Estudiantes and was in the Argentina side that won the 2007 under-20 World Cup, alongside Sergio Aguero, Ever Banega and Angel Di Maria.

Roy O'Donovan (Jets): Goals have been a major issue for Newcastle in recent seasons but O'Donovan should help on that front. Only needs half a chance to find the net and his work-rate and winning mentality will be a hit in the Hunter.

Xavi Torres (Perth Glory): The 30-year-old spent last season playing for Sporting Gijon, after previous stints at Barcelona, Malaga, Levante, Getafe and Real Betis. Fellow Spaniard Diego Castro gave Glory a glowing endorsement when the club was considering signing Torres.

Adrian Mierzejewski (Sydney FC): The classy 40-cap Polish international midfielder brings extensive experience to the Sky Blues, having played in the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League for Turkish side Trabzonspor, as well as in the AFC Champions League for Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr.

Goran Paracki (Phoenix): An assiduous worker with over 200 top-flight matches in his native Croatia, the 30-year old has arrived in Wellington to shore up the midfield stocks following the departures of Vince Lia, Alex Rodriguez and Roly Bonevacia.

Oriol Riera (WSW): The towering 31-year-old Spanish marquee has already shown his goalscoring form in the Westfield FFA Cup, having arrived at the club from La Liga side Deportivo de La Coruña.
