Yes @Squillion price change charts are not definitive as a pole position indicator for the Graphite Sector.
For one thing they can be manipulated on the Time Period Basis of start date/period covered [3/6/12 months/1/2/3 years etc]
Yes Yes at the moment they will all show MNS as leader but if say Jan/June 2012 SYR could be compared to the 6months MNS Mar/Sept 2015 ? well the MNS run would be pretty pale. MNS to TON's recent 15/70 in a coupla weeks also is a bit dull MiNSering

No don't have a Fit, Squil. MNS is proving itself a good graphite investment... so far.

The Main Thing IMO re SYR and it's position of Market Cap Sector Leader lies in it's Claim of supplying to a New Demand for flake graphite ie Recarb Pellets as a Synthetic Substitute. This is a New Market for Flake Graphite. A market of 100,000's of New Tonnes to be sold. It also relies only on purity/TGC levels above I think 92% odd and can be serviced by Bulk Mid Range Priced Graphite thus ensuring total sale of total production of 200kts+.
Now yes SYR does not yet have a Asmet Binding Contract. Steel Industry the Traditional User/customer for Asmet is still ratsheet
so SYR's projected $1000/tonne for 100/180kts of their 300kts total production is 'under a cloud' BUT squillion and coxxy I don't think the Asmet Deal is relying on distributing/ selling to the Chinese but to Euro/US maybe Japan/Korea.

New Demand for the RoW consumption of Natural Flake Graphite instead of Synthetic. Disruptive of the SYNTHETIC Market is good for the Flake Graphite Sector. MNS and TON aren't doing that so could that be a reason for their second fiddle status? ;-)

In addition The KNL/Tkrupp news should be considered. Tkrupp, a steel maker amongst other things announced record profits for the 2014 year, then formalises/binds it's KNL graphite and then the next week German Gov't gives debt financing guarantee.
Tkrupp is taking it's kts of graphite for Traditional Use in the Refactory Market crucibles, anodes whatever Smelter Bricks.
It's offtake is for Import Replacement in Europe from China. This too is "disruptive" in the Graphite Sector, the Traditional Sector that is.

so as coxxy said this thread Graphite [aka Siberia] is for "unbiased info on Graphite and it's various markets" and assumptions/inferences like squills chart or regurgitating company spin news announcements or 'concensus' rah rah single stock piffle in Siberia is subject to Razzle. bah Humbug aka Flaming. Most thumbs for Shilling don't count here
Yeah Angels fear to tread. So should Pollyannas

    cheers
