I looked at the Tesla vehicle on YouTube last night. I was also looking at hydrogen fuel cells. Honda hydrogen car (FCX?) utilizes hydrogen fuel cell for the bulk of its power source and a lithium battery that gets charged up with breaking (like the current Honda and Toyota petrol/electric hybrids).
Really exciting how these cars are challenging the old "lack of power" image they use to have. It makes sense, combustion engines are really dumb, most of the energy (think it's about 80%) ends up as non-productive heat. In addition, there are a LOT LESS moving parts, therefore a LOT LESS, ultimately, will go wrong in these electric cars.
Really exciting stuff. Bring it on... QUICKLY!!!
