Figs dont mind half shade however they can tolerate full sun. I prefer my fig in full sun because i get good leaf reduction. Also like that the branches gets bleached white from the rays.( ie Size of leaves are small ).
Also for figs when you prune you must mist the wounds with water to stop the sap from bleeding.

i put my deciduous trees on the east for the morning sun under the shade of a big tree. and all green trees on the western side for the after noon sun.
