I get the media push on electric cars, and an easy concept to understand when looking to push lithium. The stats show a different story. The worlds biggest market for EV cars is China, they are still at only around 2% of the market. Closer to home we have less 1% of the market as EV (2015 was .1% of cars sold, even less when looking at cars on the road).


A few write ups in the last couple days when looking at some of the hurdles for adoption in Australia.

"Only 0.1 per cent of all cars sold in Australia were electric in 2015 (1108 of the 1.1 million new cars bought), compared with 23 per cent in Norway, 1.4 per cent in France and 0.7 per cent in the US."

As for how fuel is used, who better to advise than our old "friends" Conoc:

"Some of the more obvious petroleum products include transportation fuels, fuel oils for heating and electricity generation, asphalt and road oil. According to the US Energy Information Administration, about 75% of the 6.79 billion barrels of petroleum used in the US in 2012 were gasoline, heating oil/diesel fuel, and jet fuel."
