Margaret63: We are all somewhat 'expert' at the hearts game, but everyone's experience is different and every experience can give rise to a growth spurt in one's own perception of the world in general and men and women in particular.
So, please don't cut yourself off from something which is part of the human condition/experience, which can be
delightful
hurtful
amazingly fulfilling - whilst - at the same time -
painful to the point of total exasperation
with the prospective and ourselves
but which - eventually - gives rise to a rounded human being who has been there, done that, knows the ways of the world and knows the hearts of men and women.
I am with Froggy044 on this one, although it may not involve a horse (haha) - join a dance club, or a club, or if you go to church, get involved a bit more - I am sure they have social functions, check your local paper,
but forget about the 'lonely hearts' ads - I got involved with a man who had advertised himself with the by-line: 'you won't be disappointed' which should have been a red flag - it wasn't and 3 years later I was very disappointed, changed home and telephone nos (now unlisted) etc. - but I did learn something from him and in many ways he was a life saver - so I shouldn't rubbish him. Everyone can only reach to the stars as far as his arm and vision allows him (or her).
Hanging out on chat sites such as this one are a big time-waster, so be more economical with your time (I intend to do just that!! haha)
..... travel, if you can - if absolutely necessary with a woman (not my preferred option) I usually travel alone but have male friends I seek out, wherever I go - their point of view is something I treasure and also their 'Ritterlichkeit' - translates as politeness, but much more than that - going back to the knightly/courtly niceties of times gone past.
........ and laughter - I find I can laugh much easier with men than women - they are the top comedians, talkers, show-offs - and are fun to be with, if you let them.
Cheers
