You are wrong about the selling broker having $5m plus net sell.
There were 2 brokers who raised the $3B for Apple last year. One was CommSec.
CommSec do HFT.
CommSec use ASX and ChiX. They have a best order policy.
CommSec shadow broker for a lot of institutions.
So, from the above facts, all your assumptions that these are retailers can't be relied upon. They may have the largest number of clients but the institutions they broker for could have more money than all the retail clients put together.
You would have to look at the orders and judge by the size of them if they were retail or wholesale clients.
I'm happy to wait for the top 20 to be updated on IRESS because looking at every CommSec trade to try and get an idea of the type of client is a bit too much work for no gain.
