I think we have come to a conclusion on this issue in that - despite any emotion, it is clear the bank has (potentially) under provided particulalry given the total arrears > 90 days.
The total loan book needs to be assessed for different loans, different years and projects ie there can be no sweeping generalisations about the type and capacity of borrowers to repay. I note though the loans are NOT secured against real property (there might be a couple of very large ones) but have security over the investment. Many of these investments are in schemes that have been wound up (ie no value)
The court process and outcome is a bit of a black box - anything could happen.
My whole point(s) is around the underprovision. In the interests of having some fun - let's wager a virtual carton of crown lager that it is more than $25m???
Virtual as lord knows how you will get it to me when I collect.
