"Morgan Stanley analysts said it was unclear whether insurance will cover part of the cost for Samarco, which operates as an independent company. Samarco was holding US$700 million of cash and US$4.9 billion of debt on its balance sheet at the end of June", it said.
Whoever has loaned the money to Samarco must be stressing out at the moment.
You would have to think BHPs investment is not worth much and if there is any recourse to them and Vale.
Are they Gurantors on the funds loaned ?
Too many unknowns surrounding this at the moment and very little information from BHP being supplied to the market.
