Buffett - you are spot on, Myer's in-store execution can be lacking. However I think in terms of books, these are often purchased as gifts, and to have to peel off a price sticker can mark the dust jacket, which is why they aren't priced. As the promotion was 35% off RRP, all books should have RRP printed somewhere so you can manually calculate.
I was in Myer Southland yesterday looking at Mens suits, they had a 35% off promotion running on Suits. However after queing up for nearly 30 minutes for the change room the suit I was after had the wrong sized pants attached. Then I went out to find the right sized pants but it turns out someone must have switched them with another suit and purchased. Waiting in another queue to get assistance from a staff member, about 30 mins later I find out no correct suit pants in the right size! Although it was boxing day = busiest trading day of retail sales so I understand the wait.
I ended up buying two trousers & tie, trousers = 40% off, tie = 30% off. Saved about $70 all up so pretty happy.
I guess none of this really relates to MYR shares but though I would share my experience (i do not hold any at the moment but would buy in around $3.60)
