I would pay a subscription if it meant that the site would be improved and premium members got a bit extra. Sorry, but I don't understand where you are going with the charity angle. People can donate to charities any time they want, don't see why they would have to pay to access this site and where they would benefit. From a business standpoint, I think a move like that would reduce the amount of people who use the forums IMO.
