Try learning some chemistry. The hypergolic propellants (meaning a fuel and an oxidizer that explode on contact) burns with a red flare. No atmosphere needed, as the oxidizer is supplied. The fuel that was claimed to be used was Aerozine-50 fuel with a N2O4 oxidizer. Burns red, as in "rockets red glare".
