Having had a big clean out of accumulated stuff last weekend, I have to agree.
Stuff that we never really needed, don't use, or are old things that were once useful but are now redundant - when they are thrown away - it's like a weight lifted of the shoulders (and the soul!).
I was thinking about why this is. Maybe it's because all (?) animals are (to a greater or lesser extent) nomadic. They use what they need then move on.
We used to be nomadic , but now are whole lives are basically static. We still accumulate (unnecessarily)because it's initially a necessity, and it naturally feels good.
But we aren't,like other animals, forced to let them go.
And because moving on is not a natural part of life in the modern world, we just keep on accumulating - because it still makes us feel good.
It's like an important necessity has evolved into a vice.
