While plants are photosynthesising they are also respiring. When the sun goes down they continue respiring. All those veges in your house are respiring.
Tomato growers using glass houses increase CO2 levels, to about 1000 ppm I believe, because it boosts production. Basically there does nor seem to be enough CO2 in the air for efficient or optimum plant growth.
