But now I think Sino will have a tough time getting the numbers to block the merger and if they stay stubborn and stand their ground, a drawn out stalemate won't benefit anyone and certainly not the whole region.

Hopefully all the pieces will fall into place now. McTiernan has stated all along that the companies need to merge, and make no mistake, even though this is a federal decision, the federal and state govts would have been working very closely to achieve what's best for the whole region.

I think Sinosteel will have to rethink its position, and a merger may be the only workable outcome.

Don't forget, the sooner the show gets on the road, the sooner the govt gets its 30% cut.
