If you try and time the market on a daily basis you will get slaughtered even with stops. Your capital will turn into brokerage and it will slowly disappear. Anyone who believes they can time the market short term is kidding themselves. The greatest investor of them all (Warren Buffet) has no idea about short term movements and he never pretends he does. He bought heavily in Sept/Oct last year (too early in hindsight) but he will make another fortune from Wells Fargo over the next 5 years. There is nothing surer.
