Usually we have needed to light the tile fire before the end of March for a day or two. It generally burns from late April until late October, sometimes the odd night in November. Mr Bluewren just replenishes the wood heap when it gets low from old dry timber off the farm.
3 weeks ago, he had a motor vehicle accident and broke his neck, pelvis and a rib. Fortunately (very) the only damage to his spinal chord is numbness in his little and ring finger, couldn't imagine having to push 2 wheelchairs! He is unable to lift anything for a year.
In the true spirit of a small community, a band of guys got together on the weekend to stock our woodpile...2 truckloads... amounting to about 15 tonnes.
I will be very embarrassed if I burn it all, but am guessing I will give it a good nudge.
