My personal view is that if someone disavows Australia they are certainly entitled to free speech - but by the same token they should not represent Australia. Pat Cummins' comments were notably shallow, ignorant and suspect as they were probably directed by higher powers. The same can be said for Steve Smith - who basically admitted his only research was to talk to one fellow cricketer. How insulting to the rest of Australia!

I don't think the team should be sacked. I think the board etc. should be sacked.

At one point I was supportive of the idea of moving the date - but then I realised that no matter what the date there would still be heaps of criticism. So an argument ' we should move the date' is just political gobbledygook. I no longer buy the idea that people (notably indigenous activist Australians) are upset because Australia Day is the same day as the first fleet arriving in Port Jackson. I think they are just using that as an excuse to undermine Australian patriotism.


All this is just a repeat of The Voice referendum - and any momentum is just sour grapes over the convincing loss - partiicularly by those arrogant organisations which aim to manipulate Australians by using sportsman. Those organisations which continually seek to undermine Australia Day are shameless.
