agree with this generally, however you cannot legislate competition. The reason more competition doesn’t exist here is because we are a tiny nation over a huge demographic area which makes logistics difficult. There are not super profits here otherwise we’d have significant more competition. Which is exactly what free markets capitalism does, an equilibrium will occur and competition drives pricing down to an acceptable ROE.
As the CEO of CBA said look at the tech giants, they have huge profits most of which is generally offshores via transfer pricing so pay little to no tax here and many other higher taxing nations. That is wrong.
