You are completely correct.
In response to those who claim WOW/COL gouge suppliers, "perhaps sometimes" but half of all fruit and vegetable purchases by one of these two supermarket operators are from just 12 large agricultural suppliers, such as USA-owned Driscolls that dominates berry production (notwithstanding there are some independent strawberry and blueberry growers who survive and whose produce is found at Queen Victoria Market and similar).
Eric Johnston in 'The Australian' sensibly said our major supermarkets need to get bigger, not smaller as the hare-brained, Marxist Greens Senator McKim claimed.
As Johnston said, getting bigger would reduce supermarkets' costs and hence ultimately see shoppers benefiting.
Why hasn't there been a spotlight at this sham of a Senate inquiry into Aldi that according to shoppers I know who patronise has increased its retail prices allegedly by more in percentage terms than WOW/COL?
And what about USA-owned Amazon, and Costco? I doubt they're angels yet they escape scrutiny.
