@slips wasn;'t it ever so that we worked our guts out and broke our backs to make a living at the start of adulthood. years of what seemed like a Sisyphean struggle pushing that damned rock up the shit hill. only to have it roll back on us pushing us deeper into the crap.
fun was had in the interim moments we had with out kids. and that way too little.
my kids are doing well. nothing to be sorry for them for if they're strong enough to manage as well as we did.
the only real difference is the housing prices and the banks methods of accounting interest on the mortgage. remember it used to be simple interest? now its all so complicated we need a bank of computer towers to work out why we have to pay so much and yet fail to make us any closer to paying off the house.
we've allowed the banks to run our lives into the ground imo. more regulation needed, not less.
but equality of opportunity has indeed been a core value..... more so than having fun.
