Those sorts of consequences will hopefully be greatly reduced in future pandemics if we remember the main lessons from the current clusterfuck -
1. Be prepared for the next ones based on the experts' advice.
2. Never trust the populace to do the right thing: come down hard with restrictions from the start, like the experts advised this time but governments rejected.
