That buyout was double the market cap. So a $2 billion US price for us, which seems to me to be the floor for a reasonable offer to take to investors, would need our market cap to 5x from here, maybe a little less when the US dollar inevitably weakens. That market cap is very doable within the next year.
What's interesting about the Abiomed acquisition is that there is a sweetener for shareholders. In addition to the price they were offered per share, Abiomed shareholders get a non-tradeable contingent value right that will pay them an additional amount up to about 9% of the value they got for their shares if certain commercial and clinical milestones are achieved.
