Plenty of risk in farming fish, major disease outbreak can totally stuff things up VERY quickly! Not to mention the impact on markets from inability to supply a product during such a time. Also, fish meal (major component in carnivorus fish feed. ie. Barramundi pellets) prices are currenty going through the roof. Fish feed is a major cost component of fish farming as you could imagine. It is true, the world seafood supplies will increasingly be sourcesd from Aquaculture, however, trawling the ocean for "trash fish" and turning it into fish pellets to feed these farmed fish is also unsustainable. Huge amounts of research are underway to develop alternate protien sources other than fishmeal, the race is on!
Dont get me wrong, i believe AAQ are looking strong and making the appropriate advancements required, but to say they are safe stock may not be accurate IMHO.
