Wpl price is really controlled by a handful of short sellers. Movement of oil price only has little impact. 22 is a point to fluctuate. The risk of Scarborough project is not addressed by any means or shapes or forms by Wpl management. The merger deal actually makes it worse as Wpl becomes the sole owner of the Scarborough after merger. This is a really drag for the stock. You can blame ESG for it. But that is not going to resolve the problem. Wpl board and management should take a blame for buckling down. There must have been rationals when exCEO dumped Wpl at 20. Last Jan, Wpl shot up to 28 without a deal, now with the deal, it stucks at around 22. That says something very obviously. The deal is not good for existing Wpl shareholders. 26% stake of the Scarborough by bhp can force Wpl to take in all bhpp. Bhpp is oil company while Wpl is a gas co. The intrinsic values of those twos are quite different.
